I'm going to strangle something (Photoshop activation)
EDIT: I got it working! I needed to have Internet Explorer updated to version 11. Once Photoshop was fully activated, uninstalling IE11 caused no trouble. I have a legit CDROM and serial key for Photoshop CS6 Extended. It was working fine, and was fully activated, on my computer. I used it just last week. A few days ago had to replace my HDD, which involved reinstalling Windows 7 (before you say anything, I know it's out of support) and Photoshop.
When I try to sign in to Adobe through Photoshop to register it, I get the “Either your computer is offline or the clock on your computer is set incorrectly, causing a connection error. An Internet connection is required. Please connect to the Internet or adjust your clock and try again.” error. (

Great. I'm connected to the internet and my time is set correctly. I had similar clock-related errors with Windows activation, Windows Update, and Office activation, but I got them all sorted out with updates from Microsoft. Photoshop remains the same. I disabled all my security stuff and tried again, Photoshop remains the same.
The page that every search result and Adobe employee post points to (
https://helpx.adobe.com/ca/x-productkb/policy-pricing/activation-network-issues.html) tells me I need to check 4 things:
- Test your connection to Adobe activation servers. (It works.)
- Reset your hosts file. (There's nothing in it relating to Adobe. It's default-bare.)
- Make sure that you can access secure sites. (I can.)
- Check the GlobalSign Root CA certificate. (I've got both that and a cert just called GlobalSign, and they're both configured as shown on the help page.)
Great. Well, something's preventing Photoshop from directly talking to Adobe, so let's try offline activation. There's a link in the error. It brings me to
https://exception.licenses.adobe.com/aoes/aoes/v1/t1?locale=en.

1. Follow the installation or product launch screens until you see a link that says "I cannot connect to the internet" or "Having trouble connecting to the internet". Click the link and follow the instructions on the subsequent screen to initiate offline activation. Instructions there will tell you how to generate a Request Code.
>
2. Use an internet-enabled device to
Generate a Response Code. Sign in and enter the machine specific Request Code as well as your product's serial number.
>
3. Enter the Response Code on the installation or launch product screen of your offline computer when you are prompted to complete the offline activation process.
Alright, it wants me to click something during installation to get a code. I uninstall, then reinstall, Photoshop. AT NO POINT WHATSOEVER does it offer up any sort of link or option like the ones described. I look online to see what other people have experienced. I find one support thread on Adobe's site where someone has the same problem as me, with the same version of Photoshop, and the tech support person is baffled when presented screenshots of the linkless process.
Great. As a fun bonus, ever since my rereinstallation to attempt to get the code link, Photoshop refuses to open. Before, it would open, show the "you gotta sign in to register" window, and let me click "Sign in later" to use Photoshop. Now just the "you gotta sign in to register" window appears. It tells me I still have 5 days left to sign in.
